CASTELLO DI GARGONZA, TUSCANY

Located on the hills of Tuscany, Gargonza is a thirteenth century fortified village. From the late 1600s until the ‘50s of last century, Gargonza was inhabited by a community who worked for the namesake farm. It is no coincidence that the "Houses of Gargonza" are inspired by the ancient inhabitants, Argentina, Boccio, Niccolina and many other wonderful characters, and reflect the genuineness of the people who have inhabited them and have tied their name to them. Enclosed in the ancient walls the apartments have the imprint of rural life that a careful restoration has kept. Roberto Guicciardini Corsi Salviati’ precise purpose was to save the structure of the village from inexorable decline following the rural exodus and to restore in Gargonza a new form of community that could give new life to the village.

After 40 years, since the first guest has arrived in Gargonza in 1972 to attend the "rebirth of a village", the entire village has been restored. Today we have 22 "small houses" that we rent weekly with the self-catering formula or the B&B formula for shorter stays. Located on an estate just outside the village and surrounded by olive trees overlooking the Val di Chiana, the property has a refreshing swimming pool, relaxing gardens where you can read a book, drink a glass of Chianti wine of our production or enjoy the silence, and a traditional Tuscan restaurant serving homemade pasta and grilled Chianina meat. In Gargonza you can carry out a variety of activities, walking along paths, biking or horseback riding, wine tasting, participating in the olive harvest or learning the secrets of Tuscan cuisine, guarded by our chef Susi Brogi.

Gargonza is an ideal base for visiting the cities of Siena, Arezzo and Florence, for cultural meetings, for company team buildings or family weddings. Gargonza is surrounded by 450 acres of woodland and, thanks to it, a project has begun to convert the old gas and oil boilers in wood fired boilers to be able to power the houses without fossil fuel.
See you there!

DROGHERIA BUONCONSIGLIO, ABRUZZI

The Drogheria Buonconconsiglio arises from a project of three young men passionate about gastronomy and with the desire of sharing this passion by proposing and serving a fine selection of products which displays the large bandwidth of Italian gastronomy.

In order to preserve the gastronomical heritage of the entire cultural landscape of Italy, the Drogheria is home to an offering of delicacies, which result exclusively from an artisan and biological production.

Our products are selected among the country’s best artisans and distributors. As a result we propose a wide range of cheese, mainly raw-milk cheese and coming from local production. The choice of wine is based on labels which solely originate from biodynamic production and, therefore, without any addition of sulfur. The same criterion leads the selection of our beer: we propose only homemade, not pasteurized and lively  beer.

As a result of our steady presence in gastronomy fairs as well as regular encounters with  artisans and producers, we have built a small network of “producer- friends”,  with whom we are collaborating – and, above all, it is our constant endeavor to keep at a high level the service that we offer to our “customer-friends”.

The synergic participation - which involves producers, ourselves and above all the customer who frequents the Drogheria Buonconsiglio - is what we consider as the most important part of our work and it is our greatest satisfaction and gratification to allow for this encounter and exchange. At the same time, the special relationship with our costumers constantly motivates us to improve and to discover new delicacies to propose in our store.

Our ambition for the future is to become an important point of reference for our customers and a place entirely dedicated to the education and enhancement in the field of gastronomy

TORRI SUPERIORE, LIGURIA

The Associazione Culturale Torri Superiore was founded in 1989 as a social scheme to restructure and re-inhabit a medieval village that had been abandoned, reform and support a new local community through the creation of an Eco Village and Cultural Centre opened to visitors and tourists.

The Eco Village Torri Superiore provides accommodation in the simple but comfortable "Holiday house", ideal for individuals or groups looking for sustainability, communal and healthy living, history and nature.

The "Holiday House" has capacity for 20 people, and rooms range from double to multi with up to 4 beds. All rooms are sparingly but charmingly decorated, en-suite bathroom is available only to certain rooms; however, separate bathroom and shower facilities are amply provided for.

Heating and water are regulated by an internal system of solar panels and traditional wood burning energy, making us almost entirely self sufficient. Guests have the integrated use of a conference room, a small library, internet access and a laundry room. A buffet is available at fixed meal times and all food comes from locally sourced ingredients, produced in part by the village's resident community - clients are encouraged to share the large tables in the communal rooms or on the terraces outside.

The cuisine is of peasant Mediterranean origin, combining tradition with fresh locally sourced organic produce, and all leftovers are composted to fertilize the garden and vegetable garden. (Vegetarian and Vegan menus are available on request).

The Cultural center in Torri Superiore offers an impressive array of year long programs and short courses on sustainability, respect for nature and personal wellbeing as well as a variety of walks and trekking routes, ranging from gentle 1 hour walks to all day routes in various degrees of difficulty.

Here at The Cultural Organization Torri Superiore we are very proud of our project and our achievements: from conquering the harsh territory that makes growing difficult to embarking on our socially minded sustainability short courses to connect with like-minded individuals, we hope that you will share our ethos, engage in our practices, and above all, enjoy your stay.

SIRIGNANO WINE RESORT, SICILY

The ‘Sirignano Wine Resort’ farm holidays is located in the Belice Valley, in the heart of the estate of the family of the De Gregorio Marquises.

It takes its name after the ancientBaglio’ of Sirignano (belonging to the family since 1730), a typical building of feudal Sicily which consisted of a farm with a large courtyard inhabited by the landowners and by the peasants who worked on it.

This place was once a village, with the main house, the school, the church and the houses of the peasants. Following the terrible earthquake of 1968, the land was abandoned, only the Carabinieri barrack survived, continuing to control the Marquises’ estates until 1978.

In this fertile environment, the De Gregorio family cultivates vines and olive trees, today who is running the company is Massimo, he follows with care and discipline the entire production chain, thanks to him since 2000 the company has been 100% organic certified.

Buttonhole is the historic Wine Cellar realized in the second half of the 800s: it is located in the basement of the building and enjoys climatic conditions of perfect thermal insulation all year round, due to the ancient woodland that surrounds it and to its exposure to North: it is here that the DOC and IGT wines of the De Gregorio Marquises are produced.

Since some years it is also possible to overnight: simple, but elegant, the’ Sirignano Wine Resort’ offers comfort and relax in comfortable rooms and a fine cuisine offered in the restaurant.

FATTORIA DI MAIANO, FIESOLE (FI), TUSCANY

MAP

The Maiano farm is, by the will of the property, a high environmental vocation company. An example is the extensive reforestation with cypress and oak trees to convert areas of sandstone quarries from which the whole area of Florence from the Middle Ages until the beginning of 900’s emerged.

In 1991 the farm and all its productions have been ORGANIC certified, from the extra virgin olive oil to zootechnics. Farmers for over 800 years, the family spirit has always been marked by the exploitation of human labor and environmental quality.

This has allowed us to be one of the benchmarks for the innovation of the agricultural, tourist and environmental product, adding value to the survival of the beautiful hills between Fiesole and Settignano, overlooking Florence. The Extra Virgin BIO Olive Oil is made with special care in our mill by squeezing ONLY olives produced from the 20,000 farm plants.

Tourist, educational and sport proposals revolve around this activity. Rooms and apartments stays, rooms for receptions, conferences, business meetings, restaurant. An educational farm for school  and family visits, with animals and forest paths, mountain bike trails, bike-park and Nordic walking, adventure park, orienteering.

Off road night tours discovering wildlife. Activities involve all members of the family (3 generations), sports clubs, environmental guides, hotels, schools, universities, associations.

Customers from the cities and from all over the world seek us, buy our products and come back. The LAUDEMIO oil is shipped directly to customers’ home around the world. Guests of the apartments, the newlyweds find here a village to gather family and friends.

For us the future is a daily and constant improvement of the client satisfaction and of the quality of our products. The future will be a network of ideas, proposals, innovations and marketing.
