ICHNUSA CHARTER, SARDINIA

Ichnusa is a unique eco-friendly sailing ship.  Unique in that it combines high technical features with comfortable designed living space including 2 spacious bathrooms and 4 double cabins. It is internally fitted out with the warmth of wood and offers many innovative and practical features.



Unique, a real attraction when both anchored, harboured or under sail.



We are talking about a Ketch, a two-masted sailing vessel, equipped with stay, designed as a prototype by Dick Carter in 1982. The boat was built at the Comet shipyard in Pesaro, Italy and is presently harboured in Cagliari. The boat features a wooden structure, hull made of fiberglass, central cockpit, teak flush deck and wheel-house positioned at the rear of the boat. The cockpit can be converted into a table for 8/10 people with an overhead awning.



Ichnusa is an ideal compromise between resistance and performance with the power to hoist all 5 sails at the same time and enable navigation even in light winds.



Ichnusa is part of the “Project Zero” salvage and in 2012 was equipped with a battery run electric engine rechargeable with eolian and photovoltaic panel generators,  with black/grey water system and a desalination implant for portable water. As there is no need for a fuel tank on board a water supply tank of up to 700 litres has been installed.

Mathias Reiter, Skipper of the boat and promoter of the project says " Sailing is not only a means of enjoyment and relaxation but also a lesson of Life: on one hand there is the formation where everyone must work in a team performing simple and practical sailing manoeuvres, on the other hand a sense of responsibility and respect for others where work sharing and living conditions are concerned.

S´Argidda, Saffran, Sardinia

S’Agridda is a farm with ancient roots. For generations we have been passing down our passion for the cultivation of our precious earth and obtaining the products that our Sardinian soil offers. 

We cultivate simple products using traditional and biological methods, tending towards quality over quantity. We grow pulses, cereals and grains, but the real treasure is our saffron, a product typical of the region. Our saffron is branded Biological, D.O.P “Saffron of Sardinia,” and is officiated by the Slow Food movement, which are important testaments to its authenticity, origin and quality.

We leave the saffron in its natural form, as stigmas, which are the three red strands found at the centre of the flower. This demonstrates the purity of our saffron, something which cannot be discerned if it is reduced to a powder, as it often is, and mixed with substances of less value. For this reason our saffron has a very high potency: you need just 1 gram to flavour 5kg of rice!

The saffron flowers in November. Each morning we collect the flowers by hand, and in the evenings we carefully remove the stigmas from the flowers to be dried. Obtaining the final product requires a lot of work, and for this reason it is often given the name “red gold.”

Therapeutic properties: it is a powerful antioxidant, warding off the sings of ageing, it stimulates the metabolism, aids digestion and reduces the absorption of cholesterol and triglycerides in food.

PRIMA SARDEGNA, SARDINIA

We are a touristic services’ agency that has been located in Cala Gonone for 18 years. For all of those who are in love with nature, we aim to transform their holidays in Sardinia into unique and unforgettable experiences. By proposing our activities and by supporting a sustainable eco-tourism, we want to ensure that all the natural riches are preserved.

We mainly propose outdoor activities, rental services and excursions. Our aim is to give the opportunity of intensely living the surrounding area in all of its real and savage aspects by organizing, for instance, hiking and excursions with mountain bike and kayak. 

We usually suggest to our costumers to venture for experiencing our beautiful bays, beaches with a crystalline sea, including Cala Luna the so called “Mediterranean Pearl” and other natural monuments, such as the caves of Bue Marino, which can be discovered by kayaking and, therefore, by having a direct contact with real natural beauties. We provide 24 hours assistance for kayak-trips of several days and for the “Selvaggio Blue”, one of the most beautiful and wild hiking paths in Europe. 

Thanks to the vast rose of choices among the different mountain bike paths and all the other numerous excursions that we organize, our guests can decide how to better explore the hinterland. Our staff, composed by competent guides, will be glad to show you breathtaking views, to bring you in uncontaminated places, as for example the ancient Nuraghe, and to the discover and observe with you wild animals, as the mouflon and the wild boar. 

Since we believe that a better distribution of tourism is able to respect the balance of the nature, we aim to recommend and incentivize - by proposing our offers - the low season tourism: from Easter until the beginning of June and from late September to early November. 

Furthermore, we have established several agreements with some accommodations  distributed in all the surrounding area and thanks to our deep knowledge of the territory and an active participation in many local projects, we aim to give to the tourists the occasion of living the real Sardinia!

TEXTILE COOPERATIVE SU MARMURI, SARDINIA

The Textile Cooperative Su Marmuri was founded in 1971. Its aim is to preserve the textile traditions of Ulassai  Village; it is the longest running Women's Cooperative of Sardinia.

The artifacts are made with the weaving technique called "a Pibionis" (grapes), whose names comes  from the characteristic embroidery design. The focus has always been to produce textiles with very high quality standards, paying particular attention to the fineness of the materials and the subtlety of the combs. Each garment, highly crafted, is made with locally found natural materials: Sardinian sheep wool, linen, cotton, hemp and silk. 

 

The variety of the production is very wide; it includes carpets tuttopieno and semipieno , bedspreads, curtains, tablecloths, towels etc etc…. The patterns of the textiles come either from the wide repertoire of ancient textile Sardinian tradition or from the creativity of local artists, among whom the great Maria Lai, who are developing new patterns  starting from their own decorative tradition. In the case of Cooperative Textile Su Marmuri tradition and innovation are working together towards a new rise of Sardinian contemporary arts and crafts.

 

AGRITURISMO DIDONE, SARDINIA

The Agriturismo Didone, situated in the area of Dorgali and surrounded by the agropastoral farm of 40 hectare managed by the same family from generations, starts its activity in the 2002.

The ambient is hilly and typically Mediterranean: indeed the agriturismo is surrounded by the countryside that overlooks the magnificent beaches of the Orosei’s Gulf, from where it is possible to depart for a short trip with the rubber boat and discover the breathtaking secrets and riches of the Gulf.

Besides the breeding farm (with the rearing of courtyard animals, ovine, pig and goat races) and the agricultural activity (composed by the cultivation of wheat, barley and fodder crops) the agriturismo includes, in its additional and nearby location, the vineyards and olive grove of recent installation.

The milk that we drink and offer to our guest comes from animals grow up in the farm; anyone who will be interested, can not only be present during the milking but also during the cheese’s production.
In addition to the cheese, are also produced different types of cold cuts and typical Sardinian fresh pastas as, for instance, malloreddus, ravioli with saffron, culurgiones.

In the Agriturismo Didone, with its simple and fresh12 rooms, all equipped with independent bathrooms, is not only possible to stay: what we offer is in fact the opportunity to eat well as well as to take part of different kind of activities as, for example, boat trips, excursions on foot or by jeep, or climbing by following the not less fascinating paths of the Gennargentu’s mountains.

Open during the entire year, the Agriturismo Didone, with its Bio certifications, is the perfect destination for those who love nature and not artificial.

TAPPETI DI ARMUNGIA CASA LUSSU

Armungia is a small village on the highlands of  Gerrei, in the south-east of Sardinia. “Casa Lussu” is a hand weaving housework; here it is possible to attend activities and workshops about organic dyeing of wool yarns and weaving,  as well as to be accommodated.

In our workshop we knead Sardinian sheep wool, that sometime we enjoy dyeing by ourselves at home,  with plants and fruits from natural flora of our territory (walnut, pomegranate, elderberry, fig leaves, an so on). Traditional weaving is realised on horizontal wood looms, using the so called “a litzos” or “launched weaves” technique. 

Laying the warp is a hand made traditional work and it is realized alongside Casa Lussu’ courtyard walls. This weaving technique creates geometric patterns whose matrix is outlined during the loom fitting. The result is a “rose” or “lemon leaf” or “broom” or other motifs that are so called on the basis of the images that resemble the real ones.  

The warp threads pass through a system of heddle eyes that are connected to some pedals which produce different interweaving. Weave sequences can be combined in order to create different geometric design.

In this way, each fabric becomes a unique piece of work, thanks to the assortment of motifs and to the variety of weave yarn: wool, linen, cotton of every kind of thickness and coloration. Nowadays this kind of weaving is not too much common in Sardinia, so our work come from the recovery of the traditional motifs with a perspective that we call of “dynamic conservation”: i.e. we maintain techniques, wood looms and design patterns but we experiment different sizes and combination of colors.

Until the 60s, weaving teaching was handed down orally. In Armungia some weavers began to schematize these designs on paper. These pattern have been handed down from our grandmother Giovanna to us, in order to avoid the risk that all this cultural heritage could be forever lost.

Our Laboratory  located in Cagliari (in Sardinia), in the historical Villanova area, is where we design and create our hand made bags, and where we continue to experiment and evolve our ideas for our designs and the materials we use.

We are committed to safeguarding the rich Sardinian tradition of textile making - still in practice in
Samugheo, a small village in the middle of the island - but our concept is to reinterpret the traditional into design led pieces combining ancient wisdom and contemporary aesthetics.

All our bags are individually handmade using mostly a variety of different wool fabrics, all originating from Sardinian sheep and crafted according to local traditions, (which we alternate with velvets, wool/cotton blends and linens according to the season), with an added modern twist, weaving together traditional textiles with today's materials.

Inspired by the island of Sardinia, our color palette ranges from shades of black, grey, brown and cream for our Winter collections, to a freer, softer look for Summer, muting from white to grey with the occasional dash of vibrant color in total contrast.

Influenced by the Sardinian landscape, the color palette is black, black with white, grey and chocolate brown.
